I visited Too Jay's during a recent business trip. I normally stay at the condos right across the street from it so I love the convenience. I visited the first (and second) time this week. I was really hungry so I ordered the tuna melt with swiss with toasted challah bread. The sandwich came with fries, but I also ordered a side of onion rings & a fruit plate. It was delicious. The sandwich was great - the tuna had the right amount of mayo with a bit of sweetness from the very ripe tomato. Although the sandwich originally came with muenster, they easily substituted the swiss cheese which added a nice tangy flavor. The onion rings were greasy, crunchy & perfect. They were huge, and I could not finish eating all of them. The fries were just bland steak fries so I passed them up. The fruit plate was well done also with raisins, honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, and raisins topped off with sliced almonds. I enjoyed every bite, and I liked it so much I went back the next day. The second person I spoke with was a little more flexible on the sandwiches and was willing to accommodate my taste. However, I changed my mind and resorted back to the yummy tuna melt. I ordered the same dishes as described before; however, the cashier sold me on a glass of sweet tea and a brownie. Of course, I had to order a tall glass of milk to go with the brownie. I was excited to experience the good eats all over again. Unfortunately, I could not express the same about the second visit as the bread was not toasted, the tomatoes were less ripe, the onion rings were cold, and the fruit was not fresh. Obviously, it depends on what day you go. Try it out for yourself as the menu is huge, and when the food is prepared well, it's a great meal.

Went for dinner. The place was completely filthy, with garbage all over the floor. Our waiter was also the busboy. On our table was a "fresh" napkin with ketchup on it, a rubber band from braces, along with some nice cold food. We walked out after appetizers and went to Yard House. Great location though.

I went two times while I was on my vacation in Florida. The first time and with a large group(about 20 people) for dinner. They gave us two waiters and both were very nice and efficient. Our meals came with salads/soups. Everyone seemed to be pleased with their dish and the portions very very well priced. My family then ordered dessert and I must say we loved the Rugalach, which we had ordered cinnamon(but they have other flavors). The second time was for breakfast, and I ordered the Western Skillet and for $6.95 you can't go wrong! Delicious. We also got an order of Rugalach to take back with us, which promptly disappeared by the time we reached the hotel. There can be a line at times but there is also pick-up.

I was underwhelmed by Toojay's.....I had a Corned Beef sandwich, the meat was very wet, which immediately made the rye bread ultra soggy, major pet peeve when this happens at a deli.....I would have expected a more authentic pickle from a deli rather than a Vlasic...Potato Salad had no flavor......Cole Slaw was bland.....Split Pea Soup was super watery.......The service was very good though. All in all, I am still on the hunt for a good deli in S Florida : (

Dont understand why Too Jays decreased their portions. I ordered a reuben and it was much smaller than what I am used to ordering from Too Jays. This is the only place that serves decent reubens in my area. I went there for lunch on a Saturday and the waitress seemed like I was a bother.

Visited on one of their holiday menu nights. Atmosphere was a bit hectic and the wait was fifteen minutes for walk ins and as a result the kitchen was super busy but overall the food was decent especially for a sandwich and fries. Very friendly waitress.

We had both lunch & dinner at Too Jay's on Thursday. The soups, corn beef, pastrami and nova were excellent. If someone were to ask me what I would recommend, of the items we tried, I would recommend the nova. It was fresh, delicious and my favorite dish. The portion sizes for everything we tried were what we expected. If you're starving you'll finish your meal, if not there might be some leftover to package and take home for later. Living close to NYC, I know the difference between good and great delis and Too Jay's falls under great. The staff is friendly and attentive. September 17th, 2015: I was here last night. Our server, Mark, was outstanding. He was super polite and answered several menu questions. Mark was attentive and continued to check on us to ensure we had everything we needed and made sure our meals were prepared properly. Mark is an asset.

My girlfriend and I generally LOVE Toojay's, and we figured this location would be no exception to the norm. My advice to you: run away! My pastrami sandwich was tiny and under portioned. My matzo ball soup was oily and the chicken pieces were tough. My girlfriend was served a turkey burger that might as well have been a frisbee. Not to mention the burger had white stuff on it, which can't be good. The cheese was like rubber plastered on top and no amount of ketchup or mustard made it edible, I know because I attempted to eat a piece myself. We both left very dissatisfied with the meals themselves, especially since the turkey burger gave us sour stomaches. The only reason this review gets two stars is due to our waitress who was attentive and kind about our predicament, recognizing the monstrosity that was the turkey and quickly bringing out a different dish in its stead. Unfortunately for Toojay's there's nothing kosher about this place.

Authentic potato pancakes with apple sauce and sour cream, corn beef hash, and eggs! Food was definitely comforting and atmosphere was nice! Will definitely return!

Came here this past Monday night for dinner. We Waited a few minutes to be seated by the hostess. Once seated, we waited about 15 minutes for a server. Once served we had amazing service. Waitress was very nice and helpful. I've dined here my whole life and I can tell that the quality has changed for the worse. If you order the sandwiches, make sure to ask for a lean cut. It's a buck or 2 more but it's worth it. Cole slaw is really good (but needs salt and pepper.) Potato pancakes -my family loved them but I thought they were ok. Napoleons are 1/2 what they used to be in size! They are still delicious though. I want to go back again before I head home. The flavors are still all there but you can tell the management needs a little tune up. I still love this place though. It's so sad that all the great delis of southern Florida are heading down hill. I really hope Too Jays can get back up on that horse though. There aren't many great delis left out there!

We took my husband's grandmother out for an early Mother's Day dinner and we enjoyed every moment of it. The restaurant is huge and it has a lot of menu choices. I settled for the shepherd's pie and it was very comforting. The mixed vegetables and the ground beef topped with mashed potatoes and cheese complimented the dish very well. My husband got a burger (sorry, I forgot which one) and he had plenty of leftovers to bring home with us. His grandma got the same thing I got and she loved it as much as I did. My son loved his grilled cheese with a side of grapes and the black and white cookie that it came with. Our friendly waitress was attentive and kept our area clean during the course of our meal. The display area of the sweets are very tempting on your way in and out, so be sure to get some to take home with you.

Onion soup was very salty and had tons of cheese. Had a pastrami sandwich and it was not as good or big as I have heard.

Filthy table. Even dirtier high chair! Disgusting bathrooms. Slow service. But... they do have great food. Also, to he waiters... Keep your complaints about customers quiet around other customers. We don't want to hear how you hate your job. Perhaps look for a new career...

Landmark deli in the area. Just order the sandwiches. Rye bread is really good here. Don't bother with the actual entrees. If you're a pickle person, you'll really like theirs! Matzo ball soup is good, even though they have changed it slightly. You have got to order the killer cake if you are a chocolate person. Dense and delicious! Carrot cake and the black and white cookies are also above average.

Where do I start. After years of coming to Too Jays I have finally given up. This place has spiraled down hill. From being seated to ordering to the long wait barely warm food and miserable staff I'm done. The lack of leadership poor execution of menu items. The lack of friendly staff and wait this is when they are not even slammed. This place is washed up. They can't even execute a corned beef sandwich which was so pathetic that Arby's is better. This place sucks.

I have never had a bad time at a Too Jays. Too Jays is a deli chain in multiple states. They offer a wide selection of foods including breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner. There's something for everyone on the menu and it's always fresh! This particular location is crowded on Sunday's. Recommend : BLT, cream soda.

Been here 40 minutes waiting for food. My kids are eating the creamer and salt and pepper. Great place if you have an hour to wait.

When I arrived at this location, they had a sign up that said: please wait to be seated. I waited for almost 5 minutes, could not grab anybody's attention, finally, I found somebody to seat me. I ordered my favorite sandwich, a pastrami on rye. The sandwich that was delivered was smaller than any I've ever had in the past. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the servers attention, so I ate the darn thing. When I requested the check, check the server 3 to 4 minutes to bring it to the table. I waited well over five minutes for the server to come back so I could pay her, she didn't, I left the tip on the table. Then I went to the front of the restaurant to attempt to pay, and they told me we don't accept payment up here, you need to go back to see the server. I strongly recommend that if anyone is in the Palm Beach Gardens area looking for a delicatessen, you do not under any circumstances go to this place!

Our party of eight arrived around 8 PM. The restaurant was fairly devoid of customers, but the staff quickly appeared and moved two tables together for us. We all had sandwiches or hamburgers and enjoyed our meals. Perhaps one negative is that despite being near empty, it took a long time for our food to arrive. The place looks a bit dated, but clean and tidy, and certainly fine for a deli. Our waiter was excellent, he knew the menu and was quite attentive without being pesky. The menu runs the gamut from breakfast to dinner. Beer and wine, by the glass, are available too. I'm sure we'll return.

  • Tulla F.

The place has really gone downhill. They prey upon nostalgia eaters by over charging and under sizing. They got rid of the combo corned beef and pastrami super sized sandwich! The sandwiches now are puny and over priced. The bakery is even more of a wallet grabber. They wanted over 12 bucks for a napoleon! Never again.

  • G T.

I've only tried the hot pastrami and it was fabulous. It reminds me of a deli when I was growing up. The rye bread was soft, flavorful and crunchy while the pastrami was sliced then and piled high. Add mustard and I was good to go. SO had the shepards pie which looked too rich for me It had cheese on the top but he loved it. Definitely will be back. Thought it was expensive but we will be back nonetheless. The waitress was kind of slow and I think the manager spoke to her about that but when we told her we were in a rush, she sped things up a bit.

  • Gregory S.

Service was great but they didn't put much meat on the sandwich and they put the dressing for the Rueben on the bread making it soggy. They could put the cheese on the bread first then the thousand Island on the cheese keeping the bread from getting soggy, if they knew what they were cared. :-)

  • Tammie V.

Hubby and I really like their Reubens. Very meaty and served with a healthy portion of fries, a pickle slice and small dish of Cole slaw. Only complaint was I'd rather have more slaw and less fries. Always quick service though.

This review is for the Jupiter TooJays in the Bluffs plaza on US 1. Can't find it on Yelp, but needed to review. While the food is good if you can get it, they ran out of both matzo ball soup AND potato pancakes at 7:00pm on a weekday. They were then VERY unaccomodating - given that half our take out order comprised of these items. No help coming up with other options or discounts towards the (more expensive) items that we had to go with. What is the point of coming to TooJays if you can't get these integral items??? Don't bother coming to this location if you want any of the staples.

Too Jays : Cracker Barrel :: northeastern deli : southern food Keep your expectations low and you'll be fine. Went yesterday and had an unremarkable turkey pastrami Reuben and and unremarkable cup of chicken noodle soup. The waitress was unremarkable. In about 3-4 months I'll forget the last time I was there so I'll go again. It'll be unremarkable too, I'm sure.

  • Anne A.

This location is not what it used to be when it was in the Loehmann's plaza when the staff was friendlier and more efficient. Our last three take out orders have been wrong. Tonight when we picked up our order, the line was so long to pick up orders, we asked to check the order but were assured it was right and asked not to keep others waiting. When we got home, sure enough items were missing and we got the wrong bread on all sandwiches. We called the restaurant, but were left on hold for over 8 minutes, so we hung up. Just like in baseball, three strikes and you are out TooJays and off our list of take out places.

Great food, good ambiance and pleasant waitress! Like the option to order take home deli stuff from table but would think they would separate from total dinner charge on bill. Loved it though and great with the kids!

Good food, fantastic service, awesome atmosphere... 5 stars all the way all the time. Not only in Too Jay's an EXTREMELY reasonably priced establishment, they cater to all tastes with an eclectic, but decidedly AMAZING, twist on the Kosher deli. You can't beat their mile high roast beef on rye and their Reuben? Mop me up off the floor, THAT'S GOOD! Love their Matzo Ball Soup and their dinner specials are always off the chain. Dessert? No worries! Amazing cakes and the BEST rugelach I've had since New York!

Had dinner at Too Jays and ordered the Albacore Tuna Nicoise. If that is the way the chef prepares a Nicoise or anything else, I wold not hire him or her to cook for my dog. The only resemblance to a Nicoise was the title on the menu. The potatoes were raw, when I mentionned it, the waitress offered to bring me some cooked ones and brought me some seasoned potatoes they normally serve as a side dish and that were almost tasteless, the beans were not "al dente", they had rigor mortis, the carrots were served as raw stick with which I could have killed someone. This was the most disappointing dish I had been served anywhere in a long time. The service was marginal at best. Never again.

I love toojays, but wow this location is so not as good as the others. Simple take order was really bad, did not bother to toast the bagel even when it was specifically requested. She even rolled her eyes at me when I requested a coffee be added to the order, next time I will stop at the PGA or Wellington locations. Guess I know why there were so many empty tables.

Had dinner here last Saturday after my daughter's piano recital. I've probably been here 12 or 15 times since we moved here 9 years ago, but I have to admit that this was my first time in over a year (maybe 2). I usually get the Triple J, which is kind of a Reuben-esque hybrid sandwich that has a great mix of flavors, and if the weather is lousy -- like last Saturday was -- I warm my stomach up for what's coming with a bowl of matzoh ball soup. It seemed to me that the portion/sandwich size had gotten smaller since the last time I ate there. This may have also coincided with a reduction in prices to offset the reduction in portion/sandwich, but I really don't know. Service here never seems to be terrific, but rather just hovering on the edge of unattentive, with long gaps between check-ins or refills on your iced tea. The bakery also has great desserts -- I get nostalgic with their over-sized black-and-white cookies when I want to treat myself. Great place to hit just before/after the movies upstairs at Downtown at the Gardens.

Good deli/restaurant. Great sandwiches and deserts. Reasonable prices and decent service. Located in the pleasant Downtown at the Gardens. Recommend for a delicious meal.

I went in this restaurant today. Stood waiting to be seated for over 10 minutes. Nobody came over. Finally a waiter said I could sit down and he would tell another waitress I was there. I sat there for about 10-15 minutes with nobody even coming over to give me a menu or get me started with a drink. I had to leave. When one can't even get served there is a major issue.

We wanted to like too jays. We liked the soup so kept going back for more. The service is straining to be adequate, the soup runs out fast and the service is limited. What a shame it could be a great place. It was empty at six thirty tonite while so many other places were packed. Getting dirtier by the month. Too bad.

Good food and good service. The prices were reasonable and its located in downtown at the Gardens. This is def a better breakfast option than other in the area.

Nom Nom Nom. Looking for cheap breakfast? Look no further than Too Jays. I went to Too Jays for breakfast last Saturday morning. For around $6 I had two huge pieces of rye toast, bacon, and two fried eggs. The eggs were maybe cooked a little longer than I would have liked, but then again I didn't specify how runny I wanted them. The toast hit the spot. Service could have been faster, but the place did seem busy. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area.

They have very good deli food and fair prices. Almost all their dishes are enough to get two meals out of or feed two people.

  • Kyle E.

Great food. I love the Reuben, California wrap, liver and onions, meatloaf and the tuna salad. The ambiance is very simple and the place is always busy. They have great bread, salads, desserts - black-and-white cookies are second to none as is the carrot cake. I have eaten in Too Jays literally dozens of times - but over the years have just always done take out. I get something from there or just go in and get containers of tuna salad, chicken salad, breads, some meat or shrimp salad once or even twice a week. Great for a brown bag lunch to work or even enjoying as a snack in the evening. The ambiance, cleanliness and service even at the counter are spotty. If you want to brave the crowds and the "direct nature" of the staff have at it. I would rather just enjoy the food and not experience the service from hostess to waitress to cashier. TooJays is best eaten alone at home rather than served with a snotty, mean and bad attitude. Five stars for food, one for service and ambiance. Nonetheless can't beat their salads, Rubens, liver and onions, and California wrap - delicious and huge!

This is a staple restaurant every time I visit my grandmother in palm beach gardens. Actually Too Jays is the first place my grams met my boyfriend! Too Jays is a beloved Jewish delicatessen. As you walk in you'll see scores of sweets and baked goods. Get some at the end of your meal or pick out what you want to take home. The meals are largely portioned with fresh ingredients. The tuna salad is always a go. Actually, you can have a platter with all different types of salads- chicken, tuna, egg. My grams loves that plate. There's also huge burgers, chicken meals, soups (matzoh ball!) and just about every other great deli food but taken up a notch. The inside is comfy and the booths are great for spending time with friends and loved ones. There may be a line- but it goes quickly! Definitely kid friendly.

My daughter and I always eat here when we are in town. The wait staff is very friendly and unless it is really busy we are served quickly. I had Tj's Trio of chicken salad, chicken dill salad and Shrimp salad. It is delicious and they always give me extra crackers with it. My daughter loves the Matzo ball soup too.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can find incredibly critical things to say about a restaurant that they have visited (maybe even once) that is not exactly as they wish. TooJays has a lot of locations, but their high standards are all the same. If they were not, you would not see them in so many Of them Make sense? My review is the TooJay's in Palm Beach Gardens, but I have been to several others and could say pretty much the same things about any of them. TooJays is a deli that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think that their lunch menu items are the best of the three, but that's just my opinion. It is entirely likely that you will have had better food somewhere else in your travels, but as far as consistently good quality food served in a clean environment with good service...you will be hard pressed to find better. And TooJays prices are very reasonable. In fact, TooJays is an "oasis" compared to the famous Jewish Deli's of NYC. At 2nd Ave, Carnegie's or Katz's, a sandwich alone can cost you $15-$20 before any side items. Need a side of rice?...$4.00 more. Lean? sure...$1.00 more. Oh yeah, if you don't have a good idea of what you want shortly after you are seated, expect some attitude from your wait staff. "Tick tock sweetie" is what you will hear. At TooJay's if you need something added on, taken off, on the side, light, heavy, it will be no problem. Their prices are fair, and I have never been charged extra for carry out orders. TooJay's chicken noodle soup is homemade, and if you're not feeling well, it will work wonders for your recovery. Too Jays has a good variety menu and will prepare box lunches with delivery for a group meeting. Catering is another specialty of theirs. No doubt that TooJays could improve on a few things such as the typically long time it takes to get your check. And sometimes, the kitchen is just swamped with orders so it takes longer to get your order. For the most part, it's a solid choice. TooJays makes a great pastrami, turkey, brisket, burger, Matzo Ball soup, all at a fair price. Desserts are really good too. The next time that you are in NYC, please visit one of the other deli's that I mentioned and take note of the whole experience. You will likely be shocked when you see how easy it is to spend $50 or $60 on lunch for two. For my wallet, TooJays is just fine.

Not that good. Food was bland and service was okay. Don't go so many better places close by.

What is this fascination with too jays? It must be that the people who Ike it have never really been to a real deli. Food was ordinary, bad diner stuff.

Not a whole lot of options for a good New York style deli in Palm Beach Gardens. Or if there is I haven't been introduced to it YET. I've been to many Toojays though. It's a south Florida chain of delis that's growing on me. Pastrami on Rye. Why not? I love it. Even with a side of Russian dressing a pickle Matzah Ball soup, the Chili, etc...Yummy!

After staying away for a couple of years we went back for dinner tonight. I ordered the stuff cabbage with a house salad. The entry was delicious and came with fresh string beans. My friends ordered the Turkey Dinner and everything arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. If their was a downside they needed more staff as they had empty tables. The ambiance is typical deli which normally you would not expect too much.

  • Dean H.

As someone who was raised in the culture of great NYC delis, this one stands up well. I like the breakfasts a lot although the bagels were not great. The black and white cookies are sublime.

  • Michael K.

For some reason, it's very hard to find a good deli in south Florida. Overall Too Jays solves the problem. The menu is extensive, portions are plentiful, and prices are reasonable. Be sure to ask for fresh rye bread and butter with your dinners. From the stuffed cabbage to knishes to matzoh ball soup you can find good ethnic Jewish deli food. I love reuben sandwiches, but don't order them here. They suffer from too much sauerkraut and not enough corned beef. Their brisket sandwiches don't rate high in my book either. But just about everything else here is pretty darn good.

THE BEST! I love Too Jays for breakfast and lunch! Great breads and really good sandwiches. I would eat and recommend everything on the menu.

Outstanding deli - ate take-out here and had a reuben that was to die for! Great service, good food, and the selection was extensive, if I hadn't been set on a reuben, I'd still be there trying to figure out what I wanted! Also got some rugelach for the next morning's class, and they were great! Nothing wrong with this place at all!

My family and I ate here and were so pleased with the huge variety on the menu. Even our vegan nana found something to satisfy her palate. Our waiter, Jamie, was happy to accommodate our daughter's special request. The matzo ball soup was heavenly and the potato latkes were like grandma's. This place is a winner.

Meh. Bland and waaaaay overpriced. Tiny portions to boot. Beef cabbage appetizer soup was ok so it gets one star for that. No flavor in the liver. Onions were too greasy. Green beans zero flavor. Did they just say what the he'll and boil them? That's sure what it tasted like!
